Hi all,

we are trying to connect business objects with SAP ERP and use abap function as datasource. My question is if it is necessary to have import parameters coded in the abap function and use it as prompt in universe to restrict data from database? Or can we get the same result when we just create prompt from a simple field which is not an import parameter? Is there any difference in performance? I hope I explained it properly.

Best regards,

To clarify, are you trying to use an ABAP Function to be a data source to a universe?

Martin - I found some old training documents on this - it says "ABAP functions input parameters are mapped to input columns that are either mandatory or optional"

In terms of your other questions, it depends on the volume of data; if it is a lot of volume then I recommend asking the ABAP developer to tune the ABAP function module and use SE30 to check performance.
