Through the IMG (t-code = spro), access Personnel Management > Organizational Management > Basic Settings > Maintain Evaluation Paths, look at the existing Evaluation Paths (as there should already be one to report on the manager). It could help you if you look at someone's position (Object type S) through t-code po13 and look at the relationship that exists on that position (to the Org.Structure, to the Supervisor, to the Person). If required, create the required Evaluation Path.
Use the Ad-hoc Query (t-code = S_PH0_48000510) to test out the Evaluation Path you choose. Note that you would use Work area = 2 and User Group = 40.
