Multiple Lanes in Goods Receiving Area SAP WM

Hello Experts,

We are implementing an SAP WM system for one of our warehouses.

The warehouse currently receives goods in 4 different lanes in the receiving area. How can this be shown in the GR interim storage type? If not in the storage type how can I show that the goods are lying in a specific lane?

Regards,

Prasad.

Hello Prasad,

on the following path can you define whether what kind of storage bin should be created on the interim storage bin (like 902) when receiving goods: SPRO > Logistics Execution > Warehouse Management > Activities > Transfers > Define Movement Types

Please bear in mind that a system needs an input what storage bin/storage type should be choosen.

So I would suggest if you have specific customers, for example you receive goods from 12 customers then I would do the following:

- lane A belongs to customers from 1 to 3

- lane B belongs to customers from 4 to 6

- lane C belongs to customers from 7 to 9

- and finally lane D belongs to customers from 10 to 12

Now you can define specific storage bins according to tha lanes. These are the opportunities that you can choose in customizing:

- Attachment

- Purchase Order

- Storage bin

- Order

- Kanban/JIT

- Cost center

- Sales document

- Replenishment fixed bins

- Production supply

- Customer

- Sales order

- Network

- Container

My suggestion works only if you have limited customers and you can add them to the specific incoming lanes. I would suggest to apply your requirement on storage bin level and don't make any changes on storage type level. It's easier to define specific storage bin inside a main storage type like 902.

But as you see there are more selection criterias, so if you can distinguish your customers according to 'Cost center' or 'Customer' then you can define your own storage bins. It now depends on your requirements.

Peter

Thank you for your reply Peter.

At the present when I do a GR, the goods sit in 902 without a bin. When I add a storage bin to 902 how will the system behave?

Will it ask for a storage bin input during MIGO GR?

Prasad.

Hi Prasad,

the system should create a dynamic storage bin based on the preset data.
