PI alert monitoring setup documentation

My company is running PI 7.11 and we're interested in getting the alerting in the runtime workbench configured and working. Is there any step-by-step documentation for this? We've seen the documentation at [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/80/942f3ffed33d67e10000000a114084/frameset.htm] but it is not step-by-step and appears to be more of an overview of the process. I opened an OSS message as was told to look for the documentation and/or post a question here on SDN.

Hi,

First start by creating the alerts with this BLOG

Thanks for the pointer to the SDN blog, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Does it not seem somewhat ridiculous that SAP has not delivered some standard pre-defined alerts for PI similar to those available in CCMS?

Have you tried searching on SDN / SAP Help? There are tons of blogs which talks about setting up Alerts.

Yes. The SAP help appears to be high level, is not step-by-step, and has many links to other pages so that there is not a step-by-step type approach laid out in 1 document. Nothing I searched for on SDN appeared to cover what I was looking for, but perhaps I did not search in the right area or use the right search terms.
