Broadcasting workbook

Hello Experts,

we have installed all required softwares to run precalculation server., I have scheduled broadcast for workbook using precal server, when I run the workbook from Analyzer I can see the data when I broadcast I am receiving only empty document or encrypted data .

I tried without any selections and with selections also, I am receiving empty workbook. Where I am missing?

Can you please advice ?

Hello Venky

You were mentioned the workbook comes empty or encrypted.

If you are using Excel 2007 on the Precalculation server and want to open with Excel 2003, this issue will occurs.

If this is not the case, my suggestion is, reinstall on a Windows 2003 32bits or Windows XP 32bits the precalc. server.

BE AWARE. If you workbooks are saved to use with Excel 2007, your Precalculation Server must use Excel 2007, as well.

Download the latest version of precalc server, the latest version of SAP GUI

and the latest version of BI Addons.

If the issue remains, I suggest you to open a message to SAP Primary Support.

Hello John,

We installed Precalculated server in Windows 2003 server, which contains Microsoft Excel 2003, below are configuration details.

1.SAP GUI 7.10 (Patch level 11 and build 1016365)

2.SAPGUI710 patch 17 (gui710_17-10002995)

3.BW 3x add on (bw350gui710_10-10004473)

4.BI add on - bi710sp09p_1001-10004472

5.Precalculated service patch(xPreCalServer10_1-10004472.exe)

6.Precalculated server(BWAPSERV10_0-10002960.zip)

In my system we have Excel 2007, I tried creating workbook from my system and server also, I am able to receive workbook with no data or encrypted data.

When I broadcast "Portal to my portfolio" or Output format "Online Link to Current Data" I can see data in the workbook(excel file), when I use "Broadcast to Email" with output format "MS Excel Workbook" I am unable to see data.

Can you please advise how can I see the data in my workbook?

Hello Venky,

You don't need to install the BWAPSERV10_0-10002960.zip

maintain only installed the xPreCalServer10_1-10004472.exe. You cannot have two precalculation.

Alsom this Precalc. Server could precalculate workbooks 3.x and 7.0 versions.

Ok, per you description, your workstation works with Excel 2007.

So, you precalculation server MUST have Excel 2007, as well.

Excel 2007 works with a different format which excel 2003 cannot deal with.

Create a very simple workbook (without variable screen) and test on RSPRECADMIN transaction.

You have to register the Precalculation Server there and do some tests.

Hello John,

Tried the below:

We can able to broadcast workbooks bw3.x version which are build/created in the server in which the precalculated server installed. If we create bw3.x workbooks in other system, we are unable to broadcast that workbook with data.

We have installed Microsoft Office 2007 into server in which precalculated server installed, created BI7.0 workbooks in the same system and tried to broadcast, but the file contains data which is encrypted and can able to create bw3.x workbooks.

Can you please advice solution(s), so that I can try.
