Smart Data Access and OpenOds

hi experts,

i’m trying to understand if Smart Data Access could fit to the following scenario: store SAP ECC assets archived data in SAP IQ and retrieve in them BI or BO for audit purpose.

should OpenOds be the way to read with BI archived data from ECC?

your comment is really appreciated.

thanks Stefania

    Hi Stefania,

Yes, you can create a virtual table on Hana that access your SAP IQ DB (with SDA or SDI) and use it through a Hana view and an open DSO (or a composite).

    • Hi Frederic,

      Thank you for your reply.

I understand this scenario could work even if we don't have BW4HANA (we should have BW7.5 ). Is my understanding correct?

also i'm concerned about performances...(it is about asset data). Any suggestion about this topic?

      thanks and regards,

      Stefania

    Hi stefania,

This kind of scenario can be implemented on a 740. The BW version should not be an issue.

As for the performances, it really depends on the actual volume of the assets, the performances of your SAP IQ DB and the awaited volume of the SQL result to send to Hana (low and aggregated or high and detailed). Hard to guess at this stage.

    Regards,

    Frederic
