Kerberos Authentication in BOBJ

All of the SAP Java instances in our landscape are using kerberos authentication with the UME for the user data source (not AD). We are using the prefixbased authentication mode, so the kerberos ticket identifies the username from the client principal and looks for a matching ID in the UME.

In BOBJ we are currently using the SAP authentication mode with BI as the source of the user data. Can we integrate kerberos authentication to BOBJ and still use BI as the user datasource? Or are we forced to go to the full Active Directory synchronization for user data?
