MTO scenario

Hi ,

We have MTO scenario , in which we have created one sales order with the item 0010 & 0020 , after MRP run automaticallly the for that two item insales order 2 production order generate for each item . Ideally it should generate only one , It happens for one time only for one material ,but what could be the possibility behind this .

Please give me you views on this .

Both these materials were having MRP profile (ATO assemblies single step) at the time of sales order creation. As per ATO scenario, when a sales person enters the sales order, automatically production order will be created at the same time pegging to the sales order item. I feel that during sales order entry, there were some inconsistencies happened in the system, due to that duplicate production orders are created.

What are the assembly type you use, dynamic or static?

If dynamic, sometimes, depending of ATP at component level if turned on, the system generate two procurement elements to reflect the ATP quantity.

If static, then the cause maybe the inconsistencies you mentioned.

It is a normal behavior for Make-to-order. Production orders are linked to sales order items. Therefore if you have the same material in two line items, then there will be two production orders, and two planning segments in MRP.

If you want to have one production order and single planning segment, investigate whether you can use schedule line or not.

Are you running MRP on MD51 directly ? In that case it will ask you to enter the line item number .Or you are running in MD02?

In MTO scinario , you can generate singel production order based on Individual /Collective Indicator -MRP4 view -set the indicator to 2 and run the MRP .Keep planning strategy 20/40 and Lot size indicator as EX.

Hi ,

the production order generated in the past & already executed &stock is in the customer specific storage location , business asking why the production order generated ? i need a reason behind this ... I tried lot but i could not find the specific reason .

We also faced the same problem the problem firstly was involved due to difference in Stock requirements Individuall/ collective.Check the explosion type in Billof material

also the thing we use to change the MRP controller in production order for getting Same in Subcontracting PR but due to this it created another planned order which used to be mistakenly changed by the planning engineer thus twoo production orders were created.

HI,

Change the lot size instead of Ex in the MRP View 1 in the material master and check.
