What's 'Universe' data source type and what's its difference between Relational Connection

I am a beginner and I'd like to know what is exactly 'Universe' in SAP Crystal Reports. What is its relation to data source types, and its difference between another data source type - relational connection. Thanks for support!

    Hi Eleonara,

    A Relational Connection is a datasouce that points to a specific database. Such connections are saved on the BO/CR Server.

    A Universe is a "semantic layer" that consumes such relational connections and when developed well, has the potential for "self-service" reporting. It allows users to create reports using Crystal Reports or WebI with little to no knowledge of the underlying data structures and its complexities. You may read more about it here:

    Yes, you can create a "multi-source" Universe using the Information Design Tool.
