Accounting for loss / gain in CWM (catch weight) active material inventory

Hi

Our client is in Agri produce trading. Material is CWM active with Bags as Base Unit and Tonnes as valuation unit. During stock transfer process, there is a chance of quantity variation at the time of receipt in weight but total number of bags remains same. We match Goods issue with goods receipt to remove the stock in transit and bring it into stock. Now we have to account for the additional or short quantity in weight without changing number of bags. System does not allow posting inventory movement only in weight without removing at least 1 bag which is wrong. Has anyone else faced and overcome similar situation?

You are just saying "System does not allow posting inventory movement only in weight without removing at least 1 bag which is wrong."

But is there any specific error message, which can be used to analyse it further?

E.g. the docu for physical inventory in CWM says that you can enter 0 as entry unit .

There are also OSS notes for gain/loss in STOs.

    HI Jurgen

It does not give error message. If no qty populated for BAGS Unit of measure, system uses the unit of measure conversion maintained in Material master for MT to Bags and posts the material document with both MT and Bags. There by affecting the BAGS stock.

    Sriram.

    • At least a physical inventory should be able to adjust the quantities otherwise the documentation would be wrong.

Asking the colleagues could be an alternative, as a SAP employee you are very close to the source, to people who developed and supporting your software solution.
