Are there any R3load processes running at the OS level? I would also check for the sessions at the database level. What kernel release are you using for the installation? If possible update the kernel and restart the installation.

No, that's not normal. Did you check the CPU / Memory utilization on both the Application Server and the Database? Possibly the resources are exhausted, can you share the server specs?

Hi

I could able to finish the ABAP Import step 227 jobs in approximately 30 hrs (in breaks), also did the settings mentioned in below link

RAM upgrade helped a lot as well

cheers

Hello John

Installing IDES EhP8 - MSSQL on a Laptop even when you apply the maximum of RAM will end in an endless run time, as typically the last 2-3 import processes also taking considerably long on a normal server due to the fact how SAP is creating the export sources.

However, I would suggest an Azure account and an Installation on a proper VM. See also the SAP First Guidance – Implement SAP BW/4HANA in the Azure Cloud

Hi Bartosz, I have added RAM, so total RAM is now 12GB, which is the maximum allowed in my laptop and the Processor is 4 cores I can dedicate only 2 to Virtual Box, hope this is OK for restarting the SWPM..

Hi,

Looks like you need to add more resources - A single CPU is not enough to run SAP and the database 😞

I’d suggest to use at least 4 cores and 16 GB of memory.

Hi Bartosz- My host CPU & Disk utilization are 100 % sometime, but not always, all this happen since the SWPM hits Import ABAP step, also there still 398 GB of free space left in VM box disk and 1 Processor is running...

currently I have stop the SWPM

- any idea how to proceed

Replace the kernel with the kernel version 753 and start the sapinst again. If the CPU and RAM are not sufficient then it could also be a problem. I would look into the database configuration and if possible adjust the MSSQL settings. You may also want to change the logging mode as advised in this note 1241751 - SQL Server minimal logging extensions
