Deployment optimizer sends an ATD quantity at the end of the horizon

Hi ,

I am facing problem with deployment optimizer.

Issue:- Deployment sends an ATD quantity at the end of the horizon irrespective of whether there is any demand or not.

Setup in system:-

1) Planning book has Data View for 7 days

2)Deployment profile:-

Using u201CDiscrete optimizationu201D

On Discrete constraints tab :- Integral Transportation Lots 5 D

Deployment Parameter tab:-

Supply shortage:- Distribution based on lowest cost

Supply surplus:- Distribution based on lowest cost

Checked:- Horizon from product master/profile

Pull Deployment Horizon 5

Push Deployment Horizon 5

SNP chk hrz =u201D u201C ( blank)

-

3) Location A is source & B is destination

At location A:-

ATD issue = ATI

ATR receipt= ZX4

4)Product master:-

Push Depl. Hor. = 5 days at location B

Then I tried below various option by changing setups in Deployment config. :-

a) In deployment profile->deployment parameter tab->

In supply surplus:-

Selected Push distribution by demand and checked box u201CEarliest delivery

Un checked - Horizons from Location Product Master/Profile

Result :- issue did not solved

b) Decreased all the horizon from 5 to 3 days

Result :- still Deployment optimizer sends an ATD quantity at the end of the horizon irrespective of whether there is any demand or not.

c) Then I increased storage cost at destination location B,

Result it worked

But this is work around.. can any one has any other suggestion Please suggest

Regards

Samir

We have increased storage days supply and it solved problem.

Dear Samir,

Increasing storage cost is not a workaround. But this is how costs needs to be modelled to get desired result. The objective of optimizer is to minimize total cost. If storage cost over a planning period is less at destination, then it will deploy it.

Hi Samir,

Can you check whether you maintained non-zero storage cost in the source location.

Hi Samir,

Since you have set "Distribution Based on Lower Costs" for Supply Surplus, the system response will be as below:

The optimizer distributes surplus stock to the location with the lowest costs. This does not necessarily have to be a location that has demand.

Therefore, I think, what you think is a work around, is the correct procedure.

Costs settings are quie sensitive in deployment ( and also in SNP) optimizers.
