Dear Wajid,

SAP database creates 3 controlfile,

You should take a backup of controlfile i.e alte databse backup controlfile to trace;

There is few possibilities to delete controlfile at the time of running the system.

If database controlfile is missing , then u can create a controlfile from backup controlfile....and start the databse using new

checkpint.

Hi

There are 3 control files available at /oracle/<SID>/sapdata1,/oracle/<SID>/origlogA,/oracle/<SID>/origlogB.

If one gets deleted when the system is running nothing will happen but there may some error entires in alert log.

To recover from this , there is one easy method. shutdown ur system, locate the path where control file is missing .eg. if it missing in origlogA then copy it from origlogB and paste it in origlogA and start ur system.

Hello Khan,

by default there are three control files. If one is deleted while the system is running nothing should happen. If you restart the oracle database the deleted control file will not be created by itself. You should have a look at your ora<SID>.ini file. There you should find the location of all three control files. Go ahead and copy one control file from an existing place and paste it to the place you see in ora<SID>.ini.

If all three control files are deleted, your database will not start up. In this case there is an possibilty to create an control file. Please let us know if you need more information.

Cheers,

Andreas
