Query and Block Filter on Date Field

Hi Experts,

On my Webi report I have a 'Date' column in my vertical table. Maximum value that exists in DB. is 31/12/2199.

This Date value is not displayed in Date column. Even applying max(Date) function doesn't return this Date. This value returns empty table when applied as a Block level filter.

BUT

when I apply this Date value as a query filter all values are correctly filtered. i.e. 31/12/2199 works perfectly as query level filter but when used as a block level filter returns nothing.

The Backend dat source is Universe(unx) and I am using Webi 4.2

Please guide.

Thanks!!!

  • Hi Afreen,

Have you verified whether you have a limit set to the Max rows retrieved query parameter at universe level. This is set to 5,000 by default. Check in the query properties in the query panel. You mentioned a Max([Date]) does not show your 31/12/2199 date but when restricting your query to [Date] = '31/12/2199' you get your expected results. This sounds as if you have a limit on Max rows retrieved.

You can also check by inserting a pre-defined cell with the =QuerySummary() function to see the actual number of rows returned with your query.

    Regards,

    Tom

  • Thanks Tom for your help.

I have unchecked the max. rows retrieved option at the universe level but no Luck.

Also the QuerySummary() is returning the no. of rows which's not equal to the actual no. of rows for the Date field exist in DB.

    any suggestion?

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Afreen,

What are you trying to do? Why do you want to pull in 31/12/2199 Date in the report?

Your comment, "when I apply this Date value as a query filter all values are correctly filtered. i.e. 31/12/2199 works perfectly as query level filter but when used as a block level filter returns nothing."

Regarding the text in bold, that's because you may not have any data related to Date 31/12/2199. Again, please explain in detail what you're trying to do, with sample (manufactured) data if possible.

    Thanks,
    Mahboob Mohammed
