Is this a flaw with PM warranty pop up?


I've successfully configured the warranty pop-up upon PM notification/order creation. Summary of my setup: My master warranty (BGM2) is linked to a single service item that has a numeric counter with a maximum of 8 AU. In the equipment, I have assigned the master warranty and start date is required entry.

Here is the flaw/gap I'm experiencing. When the counter is past 8, I am still getting the warranty pop-up. I suspect the reason is simply that due to the required warranty start date input, system is checking on that condition. I need the warranty pop-up to only trigger so long as my numeric counter has not reached its max. Is this possible?
