About OLAP connection predefined credential and BW object authorization

Hi

We are going to use SAP logon to SAP BO. In creating the OLAP connection which type of credential shall we use?

We check some documents saying using predefined credential will allow all the users use the same authorization control of the predefined user.

E.g. UserA \/pw is set in the OLAP connection(predefined). If UserB log on BO and access the BW query, he cannot see the authorization set for him in BW query authorization.

Or the predefined user in OLAP is just like a RFC user. His authorization has nothing to do with the real user that run the BW report.

Thanks

if a connection uses predefined credentials, it will access BW with the same user and password regardless of the BI user. In this case the BW users do not have to be mapped into BI because they aren't being used for data access.

If you want different BI users to get different BW data, then you need to setup Single Sign-On - SSO (KBA 1670073 https://apps.support.sap.com/sap/support/knowledge/preview/en/1670073 ) and the BW users will have to be mapped into BI. At this point the BW data will be determined by which BW alias is accessing the connection.
