Hi experts,
I have some questions about maintaining material master data related to lifecycle and doublet reduction.
- is there an average value for the maintenance costs of a material master ?
- calculation of cost potential of reducing duplicates
- do you have a literature recommendation ?
Do have any information about this ?
Of course, the costs depend very much on how intensively and integratively the system is used in the company.
Many Thanks !
Best regards,
Markus
Hi,
this is just a question about process cost analysis. Maintenance of material master (in fact: each type of data master) costs, creates error and theses errors causes next level errors. The same question about cost is possible, if you have two independent systems, e.g. SAP ERP and none-SAP SRM. You have to share master data or do data maintenance in two systems. We try to value the cost of different solutions now. Of course from a technical point of view a single system with single master data is the best way. But technology is not everything. Sometimes you have to convince people with other arguments. 🙂
Same question is about: how much does a purchase requisition and its release process cost ? Does I make sense to order one pencil for 50 cent is you spend e.g. 150$ for the purchase process in average ?
So my question is about your estimation or experience. Not about tools or software. Not about process consulting or new business needs. Just to figure out the valuation of you, you are the experts. Give me a evaluation or range.
( ) ... 50$
( ) ... 150$
( ) ... 500$
( ) .... above
What answer gives us the science ? 🙂
