ICNV STOP EVERYTHING

We are partitioning a large table using ICNV. Data Transfer initally ended, 100% done. Outage for switch is scheduled at a future date.

We needed to alter a partition limitkey without business outage. We executed Control > Stop Everything.

Then DB2 ALTER TABLE... ALTER PARTITION... for QCMtable, followed by an offline REORG of QCMtable.

Row counts show unexpected results, prompting this question:

If Data Transfer has initially ended (100% done), does STOP EVERYTHING have any effect? Or does Data Transfer still "wake up" periodically to synchronize changes, regardless of whether you have "STOPPED EVERYTHING"?

Thanks for your help, Joan

Counts were as expected at the end of offline reorg. Some time later, shadow table counts changed unexpectedly. We verified this was because, although we stopped Data Transfer, QCM1CKIS base table triggers still fired. This resulted in updates to the shadow. Once Data Transfer was restarted and brought back to 100%, counts for total rows as well as by limit key ranges matched exactly.
