Unable to perform client installation - no Universe Designer detected

Hi everybody,

I am facing an installation issue when trying to install SAP integration Kit XI3.1 SP3 on my client computer.

I use Windows XP SP3. I have installed the SAP GUI version 7.10 support package 10, Xcelsius 2008 SP3, Liveoffice XI3.1 SP3 and Enterprise Client tools XI3.1 SP3.

I then try to install the client part of the SAP integration kit XI3.1 SP3 and the installation starts up normally. After adding the license key, I get this error message:

"Unable to perform client installation

The installation is unable to proceed with a client installation because neither Crystal Reports 2008 nor Universe Designer were detected. To perform a client installation, please install either Crystal Reports 2008 or Universe Designer"

I have already installed the Universe Designer via the Enterprise client tools, and I can also open the Universe Designer and log in to our CMS which is also at version XI3.1 SP3 (the CMS is located on a server in our network).

Do you have any idea why this happens?

would suggest you open a case with support so that they can take a look at the system.

Hi

This is a known problem. To workaround this you need to select the custom installation. There is a SAP Knowledgebase Article (aka SAP note) for this problem.

Hi,

I found the note 1288659, and I used a custom installation. I chose all the client components mentioned in Ingo's book regarding SAP BW and SAP BusinessObjects integration (Integrating SAP BusinessObjects XI3.1 tools with SAP netweaver".

The installation went well, and I can now build universes on top of SAP BW queries.
