Product Discontinuation in SAP IBP

Hello Experts,

How can we discontinue any product from IBP. i mean in S4 hana we have deletion indicator setting which indicates that a particular product is going to be discontinued. where can i map this deletion indicator in Product in IBP which will tell system that the particular product is not to be considered for planning and other purposes.also valid for customer and location.

kindly let me know if any one has achieved the above requirement.

Thanks Rohit, Lingaiah & Arpit for your responses. i will use custom attribute or may be i can utilize PLM status attribute in my product MDT as i am not using PLM status attribute anywhere.

Hi Matt,

As Lingiaah mentioned, You can create a new attribute which can have value Y or N in a way that tells whether it is valid or not and add this attribute to your planning combination. By doing this, You can easily make any combination valid and invalid. But you always have to mention this attribute in any KF calculation to check whether combination is valid or not. If combination is not valid, it will give Null. This will stop further forecast for all invalid combinations.

Hi Matt,

There can be some custom scenarios built for this.

Product discontinuation can be achieved by excluding it from forecast in demand planning process. This will further lead to no supply plan generation since forecast is not available.

For example, if you want to immediately discontinue the product, you can send the deletion indicator through a custom field to IBP and planners can exclude the product during forecast run based on this indicator.

If there is a scenario where product need to be gradually discontinued after inventory run out, you can setup a phase-out profile in manage life cycle by mentioning the date when inventory ends and statistical forecast profile will consider it to stop further forecast once phase-out end has reached.

Hi Matt,

Product discontinuation or product deletion integration not supported as of 1811 release.

The workaround solution creates a new attribute called deletion indicator and based on this all affected combinations to identify and mark for deletion.
