systems refreshing

hi experts,

we have DEV,QUAL,PROD in our landscape.

in DEV and QUAL,we donot have data or objects up to date as in PROD.My manager(a business person) asked me to get them in sync....He meant I should recreate objects in DEV and QUAL ,where required and do dataloadings for all years where we didnot do that.

Do we do that manually,in general? or?

Because I read in some posts, that we refresh DEV and QUAL from PROD now and then...so they come in sync.....If so,how often do people do this refreshing?Who does it..Basis guys??

Thanks for your inputs....

Hi,

normally you do a copy of the productive systems to the Q-systems but not to DEV. How often you do it depends on your requirements and strategy. Normally it is done once or twice a year and it will be done by basis persons.

If you need to have DEV in sync this normally counts only for the objects, tables.... but not for the data. You can reach this by doing transports from P to DEV.

You need not to recreate them it's not practical.. all you can do is transport all the objects from prod to dev.

and do the test loadings from R/3 to Dev to make sure everything is OK.

You can refresh the prod data to Qual system where you can test the objects in future if any changes/new requirements comes

It depends on client require, ments .. it;s on demand process when the new evolution comes generally we do refresh from prod to Qual inorder to have more recent data for the testing

This can be done by basis guys..

Thanks!
