SAP screen personas 3.0 SP07 read only table control field

Hello,

We are using SAP Screen Personas 3.0 SP07 with WEBGUI. In transactions that use table control to display item level details ( VL02N for example ). There is no way we can influence the property of a column to make it read only. From searching on this site I found a work around recommended in 2016 suggesting making use of transparent image control to overlay on the column that should not change ( read only). I am wondering if we still have to use the suggested work around or there is a better way available now?

Hi Tamas, thank you so much for your detailed answer.

We may have to do so then, so it moves up in the "nice-to-have" list of features.

And in 2021 with SP13 recently released, it looks like there is still no better way to handle this very common requirement from customers. Will this ever be considered in any future SP release?

The problem for Personas is that the column property to set it to read-only is not provided by the backend (webgui/kernel), so we cannot change it with a flavor. First, the ITS / kernel should support this property change but this is unfortunately out of our control.

It would require a feature request directed to component BC-FES-ITS to change this. You could try creating a support incident ticket and ask for it, since features requested by customers take higher priority than us (the Personas team) coming up with a "nice-to-have" idea.

There is only a limited list of options that the kernel provides to change the appearance of table contol columns. If the property is not offered, it means that this cannot be changed.

Thanks for confirming there is no better way of handling this issue.
