message server returns ip address

When contacting message server at logon does message server returns name or ip address of a specific (less loaded) application server?

I am asking this as between companies we have firewall and NAT-ed ip address.

Regardles port to the server(there are local DNS with same names for servers) 33xx, 32xx and 36xx are opened I can not establish connect via logon group.

I get reply like (u201Cpartner 192.168.33.123:3246 not reachedu201D where u201C192.168.33.123u201D is local IP of an application server on the network where SAP servers are.

So basically I have answer message server returns ip address. How to avoid this in such an environment?

    Check out SAP Note:

129997 - Hostname and IP address lookup

124562 - Hostname resolution problems (DNS timeouts)

that depending on the ip-hostname resolution at kernel network interface level, if ip address is resolvable to hostname and via versa.

lgtst tool (SAP note 64015), and msClients tool will help to give further info from server list, if it does show hostname or ip.

    cheer.
