Dear Forum,
We have an instance where we want the depreciation to continue even after the end of the useful life. How can we configure that and what needs to be done to achieve the same. This is required for Management Information purposes, as some assets could still be continued even thogh the useful life is over but the Management wants to know the charge for the same to arrive at the true results.
Immediate help would be highly appreciated.

Hi Madhu,
Thanks for the help. Is there a specific type of Base Method we have to use for this. Or else, do we have to define the Changeover method and specify the depreciation to continue in Phase 2. How do we resolve this?
Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
It depends upon how do you want to depreciate in future.
If you want to continue depreciating after life for the assets which have NBV not equal to zero, just find out whether there is any base method available from standard setting similar to the existing one except for Dep. after plnd.life end is Yes. If there is no such method exists, copy to Zxxx and change this setting alone.

Madhu
HI Madhu,
Thanks for the prompt response, I looked into the the system and find that the following standard base methods are avilable. For my case i.e. depreciiation to continue even after the end of the life even if NBV zero and ord depercentage to be derived from useful life, which one would be more suitable -
006 Ordinary: percentage from life (reduction, below 0)
007 Ordinary: percentage from life (after end of life)
0010 Ordinary: percenatge from life (below zero)
0014 Ordinary: explicit percentage (after end of life)
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Please check below mentioned setting for depreciating after useful life.
1) Base methods
Financial Accounting (New)->Asset Accounting->Depreciation->Valuation Methods->Depreciation Key->Calculation Methods->Define Base Methods
