Import of Publications and Instancesfrom XI r2 to XI 3.1 Fails

Experiencing a problem importing a publication and instances from XIR2 installation to a new XI 3.1 installation. I've tried several variations of the import but each import will import users, folders, groups, profiles, source document and source document instances but not the publication or the publication instances. Error messages follow. Any clues, ideas or suggestions.

Note: Item 378930 refers to the Profile.

Note: Item 1 may refer to the usergroup Everyone if Item 1 is the SI_ID or it may refer to the previous object, which is the publication.

-Failed to create a new CrystalEnterprise.Publication.Reason:Item 378930 is already in the collection.

-Failed to create a new CrystalEnterprise.pdf.Reason:Item 1 was not found in the collection.

I would recommend to try to copy the DB repository and file repository into your new system instead of using ther IMport WIzard.

Thanks tried that the night before and db copy errored out. Turns out the source has numerous corrupted WEBi reports reports hidden throughout.

Any ideas why publication would not import?

I would recommend to open a case by SAP support for this. Maybe this error requires to previously upgrade your XI R2 and your XI 3.1 installation to a specific patch level. You will get an official statement for this if you open a case by SAP support. I have come across a similar case and the workaround was to do a repository copy.

Another option maybe to do a new installation of XI R2, transfer first your objects there and then to XI 3.1.

Hi,

try to run the "reposcan" prior of copiing the CMS DB.

Search the SAP Notes for "reposcan" and you will find some instructions.

Thank you,

Unfortunately users are now testing. I think the issue maybe related to profiles. If I take an existing publication and remove the profile the publication will import whereas it did not before. Unfortunately, historical instance will not import along with their pdf output.

Suggestions for historical publication instances?
