Date filter problem in WebI query on BEx query universe

hi,

I am using Bex query universe and it has a created on date field. I have put optional variable in bex query. When I am creating Webi report on that universe, and enter value in that variable filter it goes to infinite loop and never comes back with data in webI. finally it fails with time out error. In universe, i observed that created on date dimension and key field were in character format by default. then i changed both of them to date field and dragged that key field in filter area of WebI, it gave me some kind of date format error. then i created manually a condition filter in universe on that date field. I selected between condition, with @prompt for FROM date and TO date. When i executed, i got prompt for From date and To date. when i entered, again the same problem.

I am new to webI so let us know how to fix this problem. I have lots of BEx queries coming up with Date field as filter parameter. I am struggling from 2 days ti fix this but no success.

This issue is resolved. I had to use at leaset 1 key figure in BEx query and the same in my webi report too...then it executed perfectly. Thanks for reading.
