Transport single MII transactions instead of whole MII projects using NWDI

Hi all,

In our projects, we are developing MII transactions in SAP MII, Version 15.1.

We want to use NWDI with CTS+ to transport the MII transactions from development-system to quality-/production-system.

We already configured Change Management Service (CMS) in combination with CTS+ to transport the MII transactions to quality/production. In Consolidation view of CMS transport studio, it is possible to select the developments that should be transported.

When we transport the MII transactions to quality/production, NWDI transports the whole NWDI project including all MII transactions that are imported in the consolidation view.

Sometimes we have the requirement for an emergency change if a bug fix is necessary in the production system. In this case, only a single MII transaction should be transported to the production system. At this time, we already transported other MII transactions to the quality system for testing. Those changes are not yet approved in quality system and must not be transported to the production system.

Is there any possibility to transport single MII transactions instead of whole projects?

CM Services supports smaller code changes using Activity Transport. Unfortunately, SAP MII transaction can be transported only using CMS. CM Service is not (yet) supported.

Thank you. Best regards,

Julian

    Hi Julian,

in CMS you can only Transport whole SCA files.

However, you might read following blog which deals about how to do emergency fixes in standard JAVA development with NWDI and transfer the ideas to MII.

    https://blogs.sap.com/2006/03/30/best-practices-for-nwdi-track-design-for-ongoing-development/

There are still whole SCAs transported but they will only contain the emergency fixes and not yet the new development because it is separated in 2 tracks.

    Best regards,

    Daniel
