Hello,

In DP Agent Config tool, I have connected to HANA Cloud system and Registered DP Agent.

When I tried to do configure adapters at path 'Configuration --> Preferences --> Adapter', the tool getting hanged.

I see two queries in SAP community on same issue, but no resolution addressed.

Could you please help in solving this.

Thanks.

Regards

Bhanu

Hi Jeff,

I understand that my company provided laptop blocked the port 5050 (or, it might require additional privileges), so I am unable to access the Adapters section in Configuration Tool.

As a workaround, I am able to configure the Adapter parameters using command line option, as suggested in SAP Help.

Thanks.

Hi Samuel,

The GUI of the tool opened properly when tried in personal laptop, so assumption was that required port (such as 5050) might have been disabled in office laptop. Alternatively, I have proceeded with configuring the same using Command line.

Following is the sap help page where accessing DP configuration tool using command line is explained.

Thanks.

  • Please describe how it is hanging. Does the whole config tool become unresponsive, or do you just not see the adapter menu expand?
  • Did you already click to expand the adapters menu in preferences?
  • Does the agent have connected status when you check it in HANA?
  • Last, what is the agent version and what operating system is it installed on?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply, and please see my response.

  • The Adapters menu is not expanded. The whole DP agent config tool getting unresponsive, when clicked on 'Adapters' under 'Configure-->Preferences'.
  • The Adapters menu is not expanded, and it doesn't have any adapter entries under it.
  • Yes, Agent connected to HANA on Cloud and Agent is registered.
  • DP Agent version is 2.3.4.0, and it is installed on Windows 10 OS.

Please refer attached screens for DP Agent status. Thanks.

Bhanu

Thanks for providing that info. This issue looks similar to one that happens when the agent is not responding correctly, because port 5050 was taken.

Let's get some more logging and find out if there is trouble somewhere:

  1. Close the agent config tool
  2. Go to the dataprovagent/log folder and rename configtool.log
  3. Go to dataprovagent/configtool and edit the dpagentconfigtool.ini
  4. Change the setting log level setting to Debug: -Dconfigtool.log.level=DEBUG
  5. Save the file
  6. Start the config tool, reproduce your hanging error by going to adapter preferences
  7. Close the config tool
  8. Upload the log file here

Hi Jeff,

Done with all the 8 steps mentioned above, and attached is the new log file.

Thanks.

Thanks I will have to compare against a good config tool. What are you trying to configure with the tool, maybe there is a workaround with the command line tool.

Hi Jeff,

I am trying to configure File adapter, to specify Root directory, in order to work with a demo.

I have already tried with command line tool. That has option for 'Set Agent preferences', but no option found for 'Adapter configuration'.

Thanks.
