Copy orignal into a another DIR

I'm looking for a function which I can use to copy an original document from one DIR into another. The target DIR is another Doc Type and therefore the normal functions which I found do not work correctly.

Thanks for your help

    Hi Thomas,

This is done by the template option in the intial screen of DMS. enter the new DIR details and enter the template details of existing DIR in DMS. Update the field and keep the original as it is. Though the document type different it doesn't matter.

I hope this will resolve the query.

    Dear Thomas,

I think that you would have to create your own report for getting this behavior realised. I think that maybe the original file could be downloaded from document A by using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2 first. Then the BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHANGE2 could be used to upload this orignial to a document B. So from my point of view the following BAPI sequence could help to achieve this behavior in your own report:

    1. BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETDETAIL2 - reads out data of document A

    2. BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2 - takes data from GETDETAIL2 and downloads file to PC

    3. BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETDETAIL2 - reads current data of document B

    4. BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHANGE2 - takes data from document B and updated with the new original file and changes document B.

I hope that this idea could help to get the desired behavior.

    Best regards,
