change warning msg to error msg.

well in material master i am getting a warning message Message no. MM071 i am change into error message.

go to OMT4 and cange the message category.

If it is standard message you can not change the message category.

maintain the entry thru SM30 trx, table name V_160M,you can able to maintain the new entries over here which will come in OMT4 trx.

in sm30 when we enter the table V_160M, application area MM is not visible.so how to enter the message mm071.

hi,

in same t.code sm30 trx, you can find the radio button Enter conditions, you select it,in the pop screen, you select version application area, message, category. now you make your requirement by selecting the new entries as 00 mm 071.

Go to SM30...enter the table V_160M...select Enter Condition....in the pop up don't maintain Control version,Application area,Message,Message Category and select the enter icon...further go for new entries as 00,MM,071,E...

Have you read the OSS note? SAP does not accept and not process any messages added manually via SM30.

And......Changing a message attribute from W to E, is technically nothing more than having W replaced with E.

If the program that issues this message is not programmed to check this customizing table where you change W to E, then it will not have any effect. And for sure not each message that is available in SAP is changable (technically yes - but without effect)

what do you want achieve with making this MM071 message an error?

Do you really want prevent users from changing a material master?

Usually people want restrict the use of materials which are flagged for deletion in e.g. purchase orders, but there you will not get the message MM071, instead you get message ME051.

In OMT4 only the settings for message types of delivered error messages can be taken into account. Entries for selfadmitted error messages are thus ignored, accprding to OSS note 545211.
