Hi Experts,
I am getting error message while saving Insp plan which uses same qualitative master inspection characteristics more than twice.
I observed that, it doesnt happen for certain inspections characteristics used mulitple times, but for some it does.
There is no difference between the control indicator of both. I have been debugging to find the reason and have not got any success.
I know that there is an unanswered post already on the same topic. Still posting this in search of luck
Can anybody help ?
Thanks,
Nandi
To the best of my knowledge this hapeens whenever you specify the same MIC in a plan more than once. It's a pain in the @ss and I wish SAP would remove it. It's only an informational message and not a hard error so you can ignore it butit makes troubleshooting insp. plans. a pain.
I don't know why you are seeing it only in certain cases. I've seem to always see it. However, over the past few versions I have tended to ignore it so much that possibly there might be a difference now. I would look at if hte MIC's are reference characteristiics or copy models. I.e. could it only be the locked MIC's you now see the error for? Most times qualitative mics are not unlocked to modify specs. But quantitatives are. So this could be the difference if you unlock just he quantitative mics to maintain the spec values.

Hi FF,
Thanks for your quick response.
Its a hard error what I am getting, if I use the MIC more than twice. If i just use it twice it just give a warning message.
Because of this error, I am not able to automate the data load as BDC fails to save the Insp plan.
Manually it is possible to save and use, but not a feasible solution for me.
I checked Copy model / Reference Characteristics. That is not the problem. Any other idea ?
Thanks,
nandi
Yes.. if you are loading via a BDC I have heard other people complain about the issue. It is only a "hard" error when running via BDC.
To the best of my knowledge there is no work around for this with regard to the MIC's. It always has been a warning and there is no way to get rid of the warning. As I said, it has been a pain in the @ss for me over the years.
As far as the BDC I suggest you post this in an ABAP forum and see if there is a way to progammatically trap for this error and recover from it. SAP does provide their own program for loading inspection plans. I don't know if you have looked at this or not. I don't know if their program allows for this type of situation or not. Most places have opt'ed to write their own ABAP for loading since the one SAP provides can be somewhat tedious and frustrating to get running and to set up the files for.

Thanks again.
However, I have found a solution to use the BDC which is standard SAP program.
I initial create them with status 1(created) insteat of 4(Released) which allow me to save it.
Then Manually I change the status to 4 which is very less manual effort compared to entering the whole data.
Thanks,
Nandi
Very cool solution! I doubt many would have thought about trying that. I certainly didn't. So the BDC doesn't complain when the status is created. Then you change it later to released. Neat.
You could use the workbench to change the status, (CWBQM). Might be faster. Changing the status could also probably be done very easily with an LSMW as well.
