cascading goals in EHP4 flexible appraisals

Dear PMS gurus,

Can someone explain the process of configuring the cascading goals functionality. I want to cascade the team goals alone.

How does this work and what are the prerequisites for thsi configuration.

Hi Balaji

The following should be considered:

1) Existence of the corresponding BADI´s in the Template.

2) What am I using: PMP or Flexible Performance Management. The application needs to be called with the correct PROCESS parameter.

3) For Team Goals, currently exists 2 roles:

MA = Manager goals viewed together with the goals of the suborg. Units

MO = Own manager´s goal

For the Corporate Goals and Core Values, there exists 3 roles:

PA = Corporate Goals and Core Values

CG = Corporate Goals

CV = Core Values

4) The following current main notes should be implemented in your system:

1470126 Team goals: Displaying own goals of a manager

1458594 Goals: Asynchronous update of the documents

1455112 Goals: Inserting goals into document

1451189 Goals: Termination with added information

1429868 Objectives: Mid-year cascading of objectives in flexible UI

Hi Martin,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I will do as per your suggestions. But i have a few more queries for which i request you to suggest next course of action.

I have done the following

1. Created a template and have used cascading functionality in it.

2. Checked the consistency check and it is fine without any errors.

3. I did release the template and attahc it to a Org Unit.

4. I logged in as a Manager in SE80 and tried to update the goals under Edit team goals option in HAP_A_PMP_GOALS

application.

BUt there is no space or option available to update the goals. Whereas the next option of cascade goals is working.

This is where i am stuck and not sure if i am doing correctly. Is there anything i have to do before realsing the template or after that.

Is the way i am thinking of updating team goals is correct? or not. Or is it enough if i do as per your above suggestions.

I am working on this and need to configure the whole PMS system, so kind of need your help to understand the whole functionality in depth.

Can i have your email ID, if you dont mind.

Hi Martin,

My question is as below

1. What should i do once i complete the template configuration?.

2. Where should i log in as a manager and update the team goals?.

3. Should i release the template and map to a org unit and then log in as manager and update team goals or how is the process?

Currently what i am doing is listed below

1. After i release the template, i am logging in as a manager (SE80) in the application HAP_A_PMP_GOALS.

I guess this is where the manager can update / add goal and cascade it to his team or org unit. But for me i dont find anything in the "edit team goals panel" whereas i am getting values in "cascade team goals panel"l. When i right click on it, it says adobe falsh player.

Please suggest what i am doing is correct or not and what needs to be done.

In case you need more clarifications, i am ready to provide you.

Hi Balaji

You are not getting anything of the left side. You need to activate the Flash Islands. For this:

1.- Start the transaction Maintain Services SICF.

2.- Choose Execute (F8).

3.- Open the following: /default_host/sap/public/BusinessSuite/TM and the subordinate folder: FlashIslands, Icons, Icons_rtl .

4.- The following structure is opened: Business Suite, Talent Management and the subordinate folder.

5.- Select the item.

6.- Choose: Service/Host->Activate .

Hi Martin,

Thanks a lot for your reply. My current issue is resolved. I am able to add goals in that section and cascade them.

I am currently working on to configure the flexible appraisal process, whereas the help link you have given is that of predefined process.

Also, can you please let me know

1. How to use the rating of team goals.

2. How to configure the cascading of Organization goals and core values.

In case you have any document on this, please share it with me.

I am very thankflu to you for resolving my current issue.

Also, you need to check the notes as new roles have been introduced

MO - Managers own goals

CG - Only corporate goals

Hi Martin,

We are in the process of implementing the OSS notes as suggested by you. While we are doing that, we have come across an issue as mentioned below.

When implementing the SAP OSS notes, there is one object (Function module) which had an error. The function module name is u201CHRHAP_C_DOCUMENT_UPD_GOALu201D. The error was that the data element u201Cgoal_type_vb_tableu201D (Line Number 41 in the source code) within that function module was used which does not exist in SAP system. Once we get the information about this data element, we can create the corresponding entry in SAP system and activate this function module.

Could you kindly provide the information about the data element u201CGOAL_TYPE_VB_TABLEu201D. Once we get the information, the corresponding entry can be created and the function module can be activated.

Kindly suggest what needs to be done to come out of the issue and complete the notes implementation.

Hi Martin,

This Note is already implemented but we have a problem while activating this function module since the data element/structure "u201CGOAL_TYPE_VB_TABLEu201D does not exist in SAP System. Could you Kindly provide me the properties for this variable "u201CGOAL_TYPE_VB_TABLEu201D under the function module u201CHRHAP_C_DOCUMENT_UPD_GOALu201D (Line number 41 under the source code).

Kindly drop me a mail at "kepbalaji at gmail" providing the necessary screenshots of the above variable. This would be a great help to complete the Implementation of the suggested SAP OSS notes. Activating this object is the only remaining part.

It seems the implementation of note 1429868 is not ok.

On page 29-30 of the corrections instructions you have:

I would recommend to de-implement the note and re-implementing again.

Thanks a lot for your reply, i was able to solve my issue of cascading. Now i have some other issues, which i request you to kindly guide me.

1. What are BADIs in EHP4 appraisals and how are they used in configuration

2. What are enhancements in EHP4 appraisals and how are they used

3. What is the use of events in EHP4 appraisals

4. How to define 360* appraisal template in EHP4

5. How to create value determination / how to rate final appraisal

Apart from the above, i also have a requirement as follows

1. Manager has to create 6 individual goals for employees and the same to go for a acceptance process (employee has to accept, if he feels it has to be changed then there sholuld be scope to do the same).

2. All the 6 individual goals will be accessed on a monthly basis and performance should recorded as follows for tweleve months

Goal1 - Target to be achieved (x%) - Actual target achieved (y%)

3. How to cascade goals which are common for the whole team or department

4. What are the general reports for the appraisal in EHP 4.

Request you to kindly guide me on the above.

In regards to your previous questions I want to add some lines:

1. What are BADIs in EHP4 appraisals and how are they used in configuration?

BADIs are the initials for Business Add-Ins, a way SAP created to let customers enhance the standard funcionality of the system transacctions without change the standard ABAP code delivered in the original installation. They are the new "user-exits". BADIs are not exclusive from EHP4, they exists from previous versions of SAP ERP.

You need an ABAP programmer to implement enhancements using BADIs

2. What are enhancements in EHP4 appraisals and how are they used?

"Enhancements" in appraisal system are implementations of new functions using BADIs. Again, you need an ABAP programmer to create and implement enhancements.

3. What is the use of events in EHP4 appraisals?

Events are created to trigger workflow tasks, I think that is the events you are talking about.

4. How to define 360 appraisal template in EHP4?*

A 360° appraisal template involves the activation of part appraisers, and adding the part appraisal (papp) column to your VC/VB/VA objects. Maybe you can create an example template using the respective option in the phap_catalog transaction.

5. How to create value determination / how to rate final appraisal?

The system delivers several value determination functions (TOTAL, AVERAGE, etc.), but if you need to create your own functions, you need to implement an enhancement with the BADI HRHAP00_VAL_DET via transaction SE18 or SE19.

Again, you will need an ABAP programmer to do it.

Hi Balaji,

in the Flexible process in order to be able to have the team goals cascaded into the employee documents you should create in your template a criteria group (VB) that uses fix enhancement ADD_CASCADING_GOALS_TEAM. In the reference element for this enhancement, if you need to get the KPI/description of the cascaded goals, you should use in column OBJ0 value determination Badi CASCADED_GOALS_DESCRIPTION. Cascaded goals use a 1-200 scale. In case in your reference element you would like to use a different scale, there is also a badi to make this conversion. It is called CASCADED_GOALS_RATING. You can enter it in the value determination for column FAPP.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for your response. Let me explain what i did in the template and what i need to understand.

1. I created a template with some coloumn.

2. created a VB called team goals and assigned change access to manager. Here i used fixed enahancement "Add cascading goals - team goals" and created a new reference element.

Double clicked on the reference element and udpated the "Objective" coloumn, used the value determination " CASCADED_GOALS_DESCRIPTION" and saved the template and got a clear consistency check.

Please tell me what should i do next

1. Is this configuration sufficient to control the overall cascading functionality.

Please guide.
