Hi Experts,
We have created an Output Device with Device Type OKI341 Microline 3410 EPSON EMUL. The printer we are using is an OKIDATA ML 320 and the output is from a PDF page.
Now when we are trying to launch the print out from the spool request, the output data is "garbage". It seems that the printer is not able to interprete the data from the preview page.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve the problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.
regards,
TM
Hello
SAP supports PDF conversion in 2 way's:
1. Convert using program RSTXPDFT4
2. Convert using printer device type ZPDFxx
(317851 - Creating PDF format using the SAP spooler)
If method 2 used review the following:
Print to a file printer which you set-up on Windows platform.
When you set 'Host Printer: __Default' in the output device definition
in SPAD, the print is automatically sent to the defualt Windows printer
as set up in the Frontend User's Windows PC. This is usually a regular
printer.
There is also print to file option.
To get this to work, you need to set up a 'Print to File' printer in the
Windows print manager of your Frontend PC as follows:
a. 'Settings' -> 'Printer' -> 'Add Printer'
b. On the window that appears, click on 'Next' button.
c. Select 'Local Printer' and click on 'Next'
d. Select the port 'FILE Print to File'
e. Select 'Generic/Text Only' driver
f. Enter 'Printer Name' eg: PDFTEST
g. Share as: eg: PDFTEST
h .Finish
Then in the output device definition in transaction SPAD, you need to
set the Host Printer field to the same name as you defined your 'Print
to File' printer in the Windows.
Direct printing of PDF:
The printer in use here must support printing PDF data if sending PDF directly to it. Only the vendor in this case can confirm 100% whether this is possible or not.
