Hello All,

Require your help on the below situation:-

Our client based out of UK is using 6 digit (numerical) as check number length in FCHI. Our client is getting close to a situation where in future, the six digit number range for checks will get exhausted. The question is on how a new check will be issued when all the 6 digit check number are used.

As our client is UK based, 6 digit length for check number is standard throughout the UK banking industry. And hence increasing the length of check number will not be an option.

We have checked with our customer to know on how their bank will allot a number range to cheques for a new stock of checks for a particular bank account once all the numbers available in 6 digit range is used for that bank account number. As a reply on this they told that the bank is happy to re-use old cheque numbers as it has been several year since those check were used and hence it will not create any issue at bank side.

Please let us know if any of you have faced a similar situation and solution provided for this.

Thanks & Regards,

Piyush Rathi
