Hi,
I have Maxdb 7.6.03.10 installed on my system.I have upgraded it to 7.6.06.10 by applying a patch.
When i ran the Restore via Wizard ,it gave me a error saying
-24988 SQL error [info STATE -d]; -4004,Unknown table name :INFO_STATE
I took the Backup via Wizard , which was successfull. The Backup was taken of Content Server which was installed on Windows 2003 and m restoring it on Windows 2008 server.
Both the OS where MAX DB is installed have same Version of Patch and DBMGUI kernel build.
Can you please give me the reason for the error and possible solutions.
Thanks,
Deepak

Did you also reload the system tables after the restore?

Hello,
When i tried to reload the system tables by going in DBMGUI->Configutaion-->Upgrade System Tables .
It makes my DB in condition as if it was not restored.
After applying the db_activate RECOVER command, my database gets restored.
Why does it never comes in Normal condition after reloading the syatem table, as it is a normal task to be followed after restore.
My MaxDB version is 7.6.06.10.
Thanks,
Deepak

Hello Deepack,
Are you SAP customer?
As you know, you could connect to the target database as DBM user and run::
A) If you use the DBMGUI tool => run the recovery with initialization.
or
B) As recommended by Markus, you used the dbmcli tool and run the dbm command:
db_activate RECOVER "medium-name" DATA
Please post additional Information:
-> What is dbm user of the target database?
Was you able to restart the target database after recovery was finished?
Did you load system tables with the SYSDBA user/pwd of the source database?
Could you please post the knldiag message error + some lines before the error was reported,
when you tried to start the target database online.
-> Could you start the source database on the Windows 2003 server online?
Please post the output of the SQL statement u201Cselect * from usersu201D.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
Hi,
I ran db_activate RECOVER coomand, it ran successfully with Return Code 0.
When i went in DBMGUI and made my databse in ONLINE Mode, it worked out without giving the error.
I just want to make sure, now do i need to Upgrade System Tables??
If yes, going in DBMGUI->Configutaion-->Upgrade System Tables is teh correct way?All this is to be carried out when databse is in Online Mode?
Thnaks,
Deepak

Yes.
"upgrade" may be a misleading term here. Doing that will create internal tables and the internal DDIC on the database (like catproc.sql on Oracle).

Hi,
I have ran recover_check command from dbmcli, it was sucessfull with return code 0.
After that i ran the recover_start coomand, it also ended in success with return code as 0.
But when i go the DBMGUI , my database is in ADMIN mode and when i try to make it in Online mode, it gives out an error saying
-24988 SQL error info [db_online-f]; -9407,System error : unexpected error
How to solve this issue because after Restore its necessary to update the database tables in Online Mode.
Thanks,
Deepak

You need to start the recover using
db_activate recover....
If you use "recover_start" the log area will not be overwritten/formatted and hence you get an error at database start:
> -24988 SQL error info [db_online-f]; -9407,System error : unexpected error

Why do you think your restore was unsuccessful? Loading the system tables is a normal task that needs to be done after a restore. To me it looks fine.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I went in the DBMGUI Configuration settings and Upgraded the system tables.
Now its working finr without giving error.
But as my restore was unsuccessfull.I want to know what are steps to be follwed while restoring a MaxDB databse.
Thanks,
Deepak
