solution manager 7.2 system copy

Hello Experts ,

As we know In Solution Manager 7.2 we have Split of ABAP and Java stack . Considering the Built of New System using the System Copy what are the best practices we have ? Can this approach of building the ABAP stack using System Copy and Java stack as a fresh installation up do date method is good one ? What all things we need to make sure on Java stack to be in SYNC with ABAP .

I would see Most of the time recommendation is to go with Fresh installation instead of system copy.

Thank you .

Sai

Thank you.

Hi Nahi,

Yeah...we have done solman system copy for split stack with out any issues and only thing is you need to configure all the things again in solman_setup.

Hi SaiKumar,

we want to refresh solman sandbox system with production solman for sync...and we are at 7.2 SP7...as we know its a split stack.

can we do using SWPM export/import method for both abap and java?.

iam planning to perform using ddbost tool for ABAP and our database is mssql on windows and want to perform database backup and restore method for ABAP.

for Java using Export/ import method through swpm.

please confirm at eraliest.

Hi Saikumar,

Our copy process before our upgrade to 7.2 was to perform a database copy first (with manual post steps) and then use SWPM to copy the java side. I expect to use the same process after the upgrade and split.

Good Luck,

Mike

Hi Saikumar.

1. System copy of ABAP & installation of JAVA is not possible in Solam system.

2. I am not sure, during the SUM upgrade process you can split the dual stack, for this you can refer the SAP Solution manager upgrade guido.

Hi Sriram ,

Thank you for your revert . We are running on Solution Manager 7.2 SP06 and dual stack split is already in place .

Thanks a lot .

I would simply use the functionality built in to SUM to copy both your ABAP and Java stacks for Solman. Not sure how the abap stack will deal with change. I guess it wold be possible if you went back through all of the solman setup guided procedures but there is much less risk with a supported method. (I am assuming copying an existing solman abap stack and installing a new java is not supported due to probable inconsistencies.)

Hi William Bowman ,

Thanks a lot for your revert . I agree with the best practices on probability of using the SUM tool on copying the ABAP + JAVA both at a time . So as we followed the approach I mentioned on System copy of the ABAP and the Java installation to build new SOLMAN system were in old data is not important for us . And yes right now going ahead with this approach and would see if any further inconsistencies occur .

Thanks a lot for all your replies .

HI Yogesh ,

Thank you For reply . Let me try to elaborate a little more here . We are already on solman 7.2 wanted to built and new system using our existing solution manager . Can we built New Solution Manager With System Copy Method ? May be yes , so was looking for best practices. However if my approach of system copy is to have first do a System copy of ABAP stack and then fresh install the Java Stack will this approach have any issues .

Thank You .

Hello Saikumar M ,

Sorry but, I am little confuse on your first question : Considering the Built of New System using the System Copy what are the best practices we have ?

I do not think you can mix and match with your second question. It is not possible. (Can this approach of building the ABAP stack using System Copy and Java stack as a fresh installation up do date method is good one ?)

What all things we need to make sure on Java stack to be in SYNC with ABAP : You can use system split option
