Production Storage Location

Hi Experts,

For an SFG material I had maintained a production storage location XXXX in material master for the SFG and also BOM of the FG. Now I have changed it from XXXX to YYYY in both the places (material and BOM). But still when I create the production order, in the component overview the SFG shows the old XXXX storage loaction itself. Please help.

Regards,

Sachin

    Hi Sachin,

do also check the setup of the work center that the components are assigned to in the routing (default operation 0010 if not assigned to a specific operation). If you specify a production supply area on the work center (t-code CR02) this will also be taken into account when creating planned orders and production orders.

    Regards,

    Kenneth

Ran across the same issue recently and was perplexed. Here is what I discovered.

      1. A production supply area existed and was linked to a sloc.

      2. The supply area was assigned to the work center in the routing

      3. Production order generated and had 10 components. 8 out of the 10 components were assigned the sloc where the raw material was inventoried and 2 were assigned the sloc in the production supply area.

      4. They all were to be assigned where raw material was inventoried and not the production supply area's sloc.

      5. I went down all of the paths to determine why the two materials were being retrieved from a different location and here is what I discovered.

5a. Someone had erroneously generated the fg sloc view on the material master for the raw materials. Since the fg sloc view was created for the two ram material components then the production supply area sloc was assigned in the production order.

      6. We flagged for the deletion the fg sloc material master views for the components and the problem was solved.

    Dear ,

When are u creating the SFG Production order and when did you maintain the PSL in BOM and MMR-MRP4 view for SFG? .It may be the delay of data base update from the field .Generally BOM componenet has the higher priority in the PSL determination .Find the below priority of Production Storage location determination for your information and analysie the same :

Production Storage Location in the BOM Item

If you have defined a production storage location in the BOM item for the withdrawal of the components, the system finds it during the BOM explosion and adopts it in the planning run.

No Customizing Strategy, No Production Storage Location in the BOM Item

The system checks whether the production storage location has been maintained in the material master for the component and uses it as the issue storage location in the BOM explosion.

Customizing Strategy, No Production Storage Location in the BOM Item

The system reads the MRP group for the assembly and determines the strategy for the storage location determination.

    The strategies are available:

If you set indicator 1 Only components in Customizing, the system checks to see whether the production storage location has been maintained in the material master of the components and uses this as the issue storage location.

If you set indicator 2 Only assembly, the system checks to see whether the proposal issue storage location has been maintained in the production version of the assembly or finished product. If this has been maintained, the system uses this issue storage location for all components of the BOM for the assembly or finished product.

If no proposal issue storage location has been maintained, the system adopts the receiving storage location of the assembly or finished product. The system then uses the receiving storage location as the issue storage location for the components.

If you set indicator 3, the system then proceeds as with indicator 1. If it does not find a storage location, it then proceeds as with indicator 2.

If you set indicator 4, the system then proceeds as with indicator 2. If it does not find a storage location, it then proceeds as with indicator 1.

    Regards

    JH

    Hi,

I hope you are creating a new order after making the changes (if converting from planned order, check in planned order first).

To do a test, create a order via CO01 & check the SLOC read.

Also check if you're working with production versions (go to MRP-4 view or work scheduling view & check if you have maintained a prd. version). If there is a version maintained, then check the SLOC maintained in that. Also check in OSPK for your plant - mrp group what is the sequence maintained.

Revert if you face any issues.

    Regards,

    Vivek

    Sachin,

This can be due to database update time delay, please check now. Storage location assigned in the BOM has highest priority. Let us know if you are using stock determination in your company?
