Hi,
Purchase order is given by customer to vendor. Through Purchase Order only ordered quantity get affected.
**Available Qty = Instock Qty - Committed Qty + Ordered Qty**
But Good received dirtectly affects the Instock Value.
For purchase Order u need Vendor/Suppliar Code or Name but for Good Receipt it is not required,U can directly do this by Inventory Transaction Method.

Usha

Hi ,
When you create a purchase order i the system for any item, it increases the "ordered" in the item quantity. When you create a GRPO based on Purchase order, it reduces the ordered and increases the"in stock" in any particular warehouse.
You can create the Goods receipt document without any reference to receive the material in any warehouse! YOu may also check the help file for further reference. Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Joseph

if ur asking about the difference between GRPO and GR...
the GRPO can be made with reference to a PO....(in the real case scenario it would be like receiving the material you have ordered with the PO and putting the received material straight into your warehouse (therefore reducing the 'ordered' quantity and increasing the 'available' quantity to the designated warehouse)
the GR is is made without reference to a document but it will also increase the available stock in the warehouse.
one of the differences would probably be the G/L account and journal entry postings....
Im still a newbie at SBO....CMIW
Thanks

I am afraid your real question is:
What is the difference between Goods Receipt PO and Goods Receipt, if any?
If that is true, there is quite a few helps could be find in the online help and within forum.
Thanks,
Gordon
