CAS - Direct Mailing Status

Former Member

We are evaluating the standard CAS module of ECC 6.0. I am trying to generate a direct mailing and read in the documentation that the status must be set to 'released' to generate the out put. I have tried to change the status to '2 released' and receive the message that "Activity status 2 (Released) is only allowed for completed sales activities". I have reviewed the IMG for status and assigned status group and do not understand this message. We have not modified the delivered configuration for this module. What am I missing?

Thanks, Julie

Hello Julie

Last and the only time I worked on Sales Support was when I was attending SAP Partner Academy in 1996. So I am not sure how helpful my suggestions would be. The term 'complete' in your message is leading to 2 alternatives.

1) The activity may be incomplete. So check the incompletion log, fix it and then set the status to 2. While displaying the activity in Edit mode, Incompletion log is under 'go to' menu.

2) If the above did not work, firstly change the status of the activity to '5' (Completed) and save it. And then change it to 2.

Why I am I suggesting the above? If you see the 'Sales activity Status sub activity under the activity ' Define And Assign Activity Status And Status Groups' in IMG, you would see that there is an internal status of 1 attached to the manually set status of 2. And the help there says the following:

Quote " System status consistent with the user status.

This is used for the direct mailing campaign. In particular, the system recognizes whether the user status is "released". This status can only be set if the following applies:

- the direct mailing campaign is complete

- all intervals are completed

Furthermore, it is decided during the processing of a direct mailing campaign whether address data is to be deleted." Unquote.

Here You will also see that the status 5 ( Completed) also can be set manually.

So the term complete may be referring to 'incompletion' or status 'completed'. I am leaning towrds incompletion.

Try and let us know what happens. Good luck.
