Activity Planning in CRM - Share your experience

Hi,

We got a scenario here. Trade Promotions are managed as activities in CRM. As part of pre-evaluation, certain metrics are evaluated at activity level and stored in BI-BPS cube. Business has a simple requirement of whenever they make changes to activities and transfer the metrics to BI, they want to run the P&L straight away, which for me seems to be fair.

Our system integrator is claiming that, for refreshing evaluation metrics, we need to run pre-evaluation for all activities for a market. so they recommend overnight refresh. That means, business got to wait for a day to understand the impact on trade investment decision they make to the bottom-line. I am a BI-BPS/IP expert and this looks strange to me as BPS planning functions can be executed at various levels. (say for example, if lift volume is changed for an SKU, atleast we can run planning functions at brand level to do pre-evaluation) and there wont be much performance impact. Also, the solution they have created is a key figure model (180+ KF - one key figure for one vehicle/mechanic combination) which they claim is best practise.

Do you guys have such scenario's, how do you handle. Do you prefer account model/KF model in activity planning. Do you guys provide real-time P&L to business. Would appreciate any recommendations from CRM Gurus.

Regards

KT
