IDOC Ack to trigger email to business user

Hi

We are working on a scenarion and the requirement is like this.

It is basically IDOC to file scenario, and in case if the message fails in PI the R3 business user needs to receive an email.

We cannot use alert categories (XI) as the IDOC contains only the user ID and the R3 users are not maintained in PI.

Pls let me know if this approach is correct n if so, how to take it further.

1. R3 sends the IDOC. (once it is sent the IDOC status will be in status 03 (data passed to port OK, green light))

2. PI receives the IDOC and converts it to a file and writes it to an FTP.

3. Suppose in step 2 for some reason say the message fails, PI sends ALEAUD idoc back to R3.

4. R3 receives the ALEAUD and this updates the status of the IDOC in step 1 from 03 to 40 (Application document not created in target system, red led).

So until this it is fine. I really dono how to trigger an email based on this. Wanted to know if there is any standard way in R3 to trigger an email to inform the business user abt the IDOC failuer in PI. Or should I go for a custom workflow or abap developments.

If there is anyother approach other than this for the requirement pls let me know

The email needs to be sent to the SAP inbox of the person who created the IDOC in step 1.

Pls advice.

1. Is this aproach is correct.

2. if not is there any other approach??

3. Should I take it further with workflow or abap to trigger the email??

In the first link, I really didnot understand much, but I can see in that we have to mention(create and assign) the agents who needs to be notified in case of an event is triggered. But the requirement is like the person who created the idoc (dynamic) needs to be notified. The idocs are created at the store level (retail client) and the same person needs to be notified.
