RW dimension

If a secured dimension is not marked as RW, what does that mean. When I try to define Member Access Profile, I am not able to create a Read and Write access for that dimension (Entity ). However the category dimension is marked yes for RW. How does this work?

Hi,

If you will not give the R/W access to your dimension, then you can't write / Input the data. If you wants to add R/W access to

your Entity dimension, you please go to your Application, select and modify then you will find your dimensions, please

select Entity dimension, below that you will find 2 buttons. 1) Secured 2) R/W. So you please CLICK on both the

buttons, then you will see "Y" on the screen (Besides of the Entity Dimension). Ensure " 2 Ys" then say OK.

I hope this may help you.

Thanks everyone for answering. But the security with the client is set as follows:

Dimension Secured R/W

Category Y Y

Entity Y Blank

And the member Access Profiles are listed as Read and Write for all Categories and Read only for certain entities.

In this case how can a user enter any data?

I am listing this config from Production and the input schedules are running well and the data is being entered by the users normally. How is this possible?

Hi Anjali,

If you want to write data on Entity dimension, you have to make Entity Dimension as R/W access. Without givig

RW access to your (in your particular Application) Entity dimension, you can't write any thing on that, so

please ensure that then try to input the data. If you have still problem, you please write with some more details,

so that we will try to answer you.

Thanks for you r answer Raghu. That was what I was thinking.

The scenario is like this:

The client went live and working fine. They have two secured dimensions, Entity and Category. Category is marked as R/W where as Entitiy is not R/W. In Member Access Profiles they have given Read only Access to the required and entities and Read and Write Access to the Required categories.

Theoretically, as per your answer the user should not be able to plan for the Entity, but they are able to plan in the input schedules. When the enter data the record will contain entity and category both, right. How is this possible?

Hi Anjali,

You have defined Entity as secured and not as R/W at application level. That is why it allowed you to send values via input schedules even though entity is read only.

Hi,

If a dimension is not secured, then you cannot assign RW in member access profile. If you want to assign RW, then you need to make the dimension as secured.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

The behavior is:

- All secured dimensions marked as RW are defined as Read&Write into MemberAccessProfiles (such as Category).

- All secured dimensions not marked as RW are defined as Read only into MemberAccessProfiles (such as Entity).

- All non secured and not marked dimensions are not linked to MemberAccessProfiles.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Patrick

Hi,

Secured dimension are marked as read then you can only see the data in that level with all its child i.e you wont be able to send data through input schedule.

But if you have R/W then you can input data in those dimension member selected along with its child members.

Hope it helps
