Default trip status in TRIP (Current status-Settlement)

Hi

I was trying to create workflow email based on the status of the trip...

when user enters the screen of TRIP without pressing the button TRIP STATUS , SAP is defaulting the settlement status to 'TO BE SETTLED'...when user clicks the button TRIP STATUS and save the trip SAP is retaining the both APPROVAL and SETTLEMENT statuses AS IS...

I have read the threads to maintain default values to the TRIP STATUS screen thru

Travel Expenses ® Dialog and Travel Expenses Control ® Dialog Control ® Define Schema and Individual Field Control

and i also checke the TRVPA (PE03)...To maintain the default values to the screen...

but whenever i save the TRIP without touching the TRIP STATUS button SAP saving the TRIP with status 'TO BE SETTLED'

even though my default setting for the screen is TRIP COMPLETED and OPEN..

could you please let me know how to fix this?
