Hot Standby for Solution Manager on SQLSERVER

I want to make a hot standby for our Solution Manager to be available 7/24, I am planning to build the standby server in a different site.

We are planning to have standby database with passive central instance. For standby database how do I update the standby database from primary database, by log shipping or by DB replication, if it is DB replication what type of DB replication?

How do I configure passive central instance with same host name and SID? or different host name. I guess SID can be same but I was told that I cannot use same host name. My question is if I cannot use the same host name, how do I deal with all the connections (SM59, STMS and OSS connections) with in SAP?

Please help me with answers of the above questions

I think log shipping will be good option regarding replication , i think you are talking about SAN replication that is also a good option if you have all infrastructure in place.

It should be on same hostname only and ofcourse SID should be same.

You have to use same hostname only while installing DR server , contact your OS/network team if they can arrange(Possibly put into different network), also alternate option is to shutdown existing server during setup then provide same hostname to DR server install and change hostname back after completion .

But in case of fail over you need to change DR server hostname every time before making it up!!

You need to have same hostname only , then only it can be known as DR server
