Transfer order confirmation - pallet split

Hello Gurus,

Our Pallet qty is 120 cases for a material, hence one storage unit is created for 120 cases.

We have a scenerio that some customers want that pallet to be reduced to half (60 per pallets) and other customers want it like 40 cases per pallet.

During the transfer order creation, system is picking only one storage unit for 120 cases. How can i split this into 2 or 3 pallets based on customers.

I could do this by adding more handling units in LH01 and assigning the same during LT12. But want to automate this functionality.

Your help would be much appreciated.

I think partial pallet pickng is not allowed for your storage types.Please do setting below.

SPRO>Logistics Execution>Warehouse Management>Interfaces>Shipping>Define Shipping Control>Define Control for Automatic Creation of Pick HUs

Here you need to defin for your ware house ,suppliying storage type receiving storage type and mvt then handling unit assgn pick HU value should be 1(1 Assign pick HU).Do these settings.System will allow you partial pick.

Thanks for the reply.. Yes, we have already had this settings.

But we have to split a existing handling unit (from the source bin) to 3 or 2 handling units based on the customer and material combination.

so now the workaround, we are doing the following..

1. Creating the TO and source storage unit will be destination storage unit

2. Confirming the TO

3. Going to Vl02n, reducing the qty from the handling unit based on the customer request

4. Do the automatic packing for the unpakced qty (set the packaging insturctions in POP1 and POF1), so system is determining the qty and packaging material here.

5. Save the delivery, so now we will have 3 storage units.

But this is a manual work and want to do this in the Transfer order creation level itself..

It would be great if you can share some ideas on this.

Hello Sakthi,

I think your requirement seems kind of complex one. In your work around you explained that you are reducing the quantity of the packed HUs equal to the partial that is required by the customer. I wonder once you confirm the TO and HU is assigned to the delivery, would the system allow you to reduce the qty on the HU and second thing that you mentioned you activated packing instructions that pack the remaining unpacked quanity based on the pack qty maintained on the instructions. But at what stage you are actually splitting the pallets and printing labels for each split pallet?

Is your physical pallet represent the quantity on the delivery HU?

When come to the solution, What is the criteria that you expect your TO logic follow to split quantities differently for different customers. First of all i am not quite sure if this is at all possible if your storage location is HU managed and you are picking pallets from a storage type that is required to remove full pallets.

If yous customers requirement is to have partial case quantities in pallets, did your business considered the same kind of split during the putaway process? Instead of packing every pallet with 120CS, did you think about packing with 60CS and 40CS pallets and then store in different storage types, so that you can pick them with the same quantities and correct labels?

Either way the process seems to be complex to achieve without overhauling your process and come with complex code changes.
