Hi PI Gurus,
We are on PI 71. EhP1 and facing a trouble with finding the details of a channel error.
In Communication Channel monitoring, we are getting some errors. But I am unable to look at the details of it because the message id that appears in the list is not a hyperlink. Generally, when there is an error in the channel, we click on the hyperlink which will take us to the MDT window where it is possible to see what the problem is.
1. What is the reason for the absence of the hyperlink for the message id?
2. Any Admin settings required to get this?
Any ideas, please reply.
Regards,
Sudheer
Hi Sudheer,
If you check the message immediately after running the interface, you can see messageid in the form of hyperlink. i think you are trying to check the old messages so that the log is getting deleting according to basis settings. ask to your basis person to make the settings to persist this log for more time.
Note:- you can still view this log in runtime workingbench> message monitoring>adapterengine(database). select your message and check for details. This log and communication channel message id log both are same.
thanks,
madhu

Hi Madhu,
You are right. I ran this a couple of times to observe its behaviour. Initially it started showing the hyperlink, but in just about 5 mins of error occurance, the hyperlink started disappearing. I felt as though the AE was out of memory to log it and display the complete details.
Could you please guide me to this log settings for the persistence of the message for a longer time? I am not sure if the Basis would be aware of this. Or atleast I can point to this setting to the Basis person.
Thanks for your reply and hoping for this clarification as well.

Sudheer
the link will only come if the message was persisted.
So ideally in this particular case, no message processing has happened for PI to log it into any one of its pipeline steps.

Hi Shabarish,
Thanks for the response!! And since I have seen many of your blogs on File based scenarios I think I am asking my question to the right person
My exact problem is:
The channel, which I am facing the problem with, uses Conversion Agent module for the Flat file to XI-protocol conversion. When there is an error, the list in the channel monitor shows "Error: com.itemfield.contentmaster.CMException" and we cannot acutally make out anything from this. Only when we click on the message id hyperlink we can find out what the error exactly is.
Surprisingly, I tested this problem on 2 environments (Dev and Quality; both have the same ESR and ID objects). On development system, the hyperlink appears and am able to view the error. But on Quality, the hyperlink does not appear. My suspicion is that the AE especially the Conversion Agent engine may have run out of memory (only a guess).
There are other channels (on the same Quality env) which uses SAP standard content conversion where this issue will not happen. Now, here also there are channel errors during file pick up (for ex., some flat file record does not match the content conversion spec). Here also, I do not think the message is persisted anywhere (or atleast that is what I understand).
Do you have any thoughts on the above behavior?
Thanks,
Sudheer
