Volume Conversion Factor Requirement with ECC 6.0

Hello gurus,

I have a requirement and i'm hoping will make headway here.

We have a situation with SAP ECC 6.0 with a need to have a Volumetric Conversion customization in inventory-related transactions. I understand such a solution could have been standard on IS-Oil & Gas, but in this case will require this functionality integrated into the current environment.

There is a need for volume at ambient temperature to be converted into volume at standard temperature which has been adjudged internationally to be 15 degree Celsius. This conversion ensures transparency in inventory management and control across varying ambient temperatures. For this, Volumetric Conversion Tool is needed.

Conversion Procedure:

1. Density (SG) of the product is determined through sample testing in the laboratory (density is constant for that product shipment)

2. The Observed Volume (OBS) is recorded. Observed volume is the product volume at the current ambient temperature

3. The ambient (existing) temperature (temp) at which the OBS is taken is recorded

Standard (STD) Volume = OBS * VCF@15 degree

where VCF = Volume Conversion Factor

Getting the VCF

The SG and temp is checked against ASTM table 54b to give the VCF.

We require a solution that can fix this requirement and work seamlessly with SAP ECC 6.0.

Your workable inputs are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi ,

In IS-OIL standard functionality is available for Volume conversion for the OIL matetails.

O3DEFAULTS is the trasaction used for this purpose. Here QCI ( Quantity conversion Interface ) will be called when you perfrom the inventory postings.

you have to mantain the unit of measure group(Multiple unit of measure ) in configuration

conversion group (oil qty conversion calcualtions ) has to be mantained at materail/ plant level

Thanks,
