Intermittenly my friend is getting an error with the SAP VF02. He is using Windows 10 and I have already reinstalled the SAP either using 7.40 with Patch 7 or 8 still not working.

This is the steps he is doing below:

Printing Tax Invoices / Credit Notes / Debit Notes

  1. Go to SAP Menu - VF02
  1. In the “Billing Document” field, enter the invoice/credit/debit number and press enter
  1. Select the “Service for Object” icon in the top left
  1. From the drop down menu select “Attachment List”
  1. Double click on the “Archived Document” icon in the pop-up box
  1. The invoice will appear. From here you can Print, Save or Email the document.

Hi Ariel,

Perhaps the quickest thing to try is a newer SAPGUI patch. Patch 8 is already quite old. The latest is Patch 10 Hotfix 1, and in the release notes for Patch 10 there are references to crashes during downloads (which would be similar to opening document attachments). You can find the download area at https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/softwarecenter -> Support Packages and Patches -> By Category -> SAP Frontend Components -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS -> SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.40 CORE. Then select the latest, currently gui740_10_1-10013011.exe. You also should make sure you're using the latest sapsetup patch. From that same page select the INFO link, then the link for patches to SAPSetup 9.0. The latest sapsetup patch is 82 (start with the "P2SP00P" patch -- the "P3" version has additional troubleshooting files included, which is why it's bigger, but it's not yet clear you need that).

You might want to make sure you're up-to-date with your Windows Updates as well.

If that doesn't solve it, or if you want to get straight to checking logs and traces, then you should activate the SAPGUI trace. Do this from your SAP Logon 740 window. Click the icon in the upper left corner:

Then choose Options in the drop-down menu. If you expand the Traces folder, there are many options. Start by setting SAP GUI Traces to Level 1 (Errors) and see what that tells you. You might start by clicking Delete All Trace Files first, so you know you're starting with a fresh set of traces. After activating the trace and reproducing the problem, then come back here and click Open Trace Folder to go to where the trace files are stored.

Cheers,
Matt
