Dear All,
We have one requirement like this. I have one material say X if the X material is not in the stock then material Y has to consume.
Are there any standard procedures available in SAP to meet this scenario? Please provide me the step by step procedure it will be great help.
Thanks in advance.
regards,
Ganesh
Dear ,
Couple of points you need to consider in this case :
1.You need to check the stock in MMBE and trasfer the stock material to material .-MB1B-309
2.Plese set the 01-indicator -Block For Procurement in Basic Data 1 or Purchasing tab.Even it is relevent for MRP , it will not be planned raher follow up material , with an effect out date and discontinued indicator(MRP2) , will be planned
3.Goto Material Master -MM02-MRP4 view :
1.Assing the Discontuned Indicator -1 -Singel and parallel discontinued part
2.Effective out date : From which date the follow up materil stock will be consiudede for any movement type -261,501,101
3.Follow up Material : New material code which have stock for the discontinued material .
4.If you are mainatin the BOM of X-CS02-Item-Basic Data Tab -Discontinued tab - cheked the information relevent to Discontinued information from material master .
Now in the BOM of FG, select the item & go in to details.
In the 'Baisc data' tab page click on the 'Discontinuation data'.
For X enter disc. group as B1
For Y enter follow up group as B1.
Now whenevr the order for FG is created the system will take inot account the stock of X which is there in the storage location. Remaining quantity will be booked for Y.
To enable to fill up this data you need to remove all the settings done for alternative group.
Hope this is clear and useful

Dear ,
If you maintain the discontuned material in MRP4 view and if this doscontinued material is a BOM item , then you can find that information in Item -Basic data -Discontinued Tab -Hit the tab -Discontinued information will be there .
Let say , you have BOM of material : XYZ .One of the compoenent is X for BOM XYZ . Follow up material is Y for X . U have maintained all the details in MRP4 of X .
Now if you goto CS02-XYZ-Select line item X-Goto Basic data tab -Discontinued information , it will be automatically copied from material master .Only thing is u have to maintain the Discontinued Grp.
Hope this is clear

Hi Ganesh,
Discontinuation is used when you want to discontinue a particular material & use a new material in its place, maybe coz of design changes or due to cost considerations.
Alternative item group is used when you have 2-3 materials which can be used interchangeably, this is controlled by usage %
ranking order.
hope this clears your doubt.

Mithun
X and Y material are same. So i need to consume when one material not in stock it should consume next material.

In this case try with alternative item group, here you can go with usage probablity of the materials & ranking order.
In your case you can go with ranking order along with usage probabilty of 100% for both the materials.
Followup material given in MMR would be useful only in case you are discontinuing the first material along with
the ranking order, the least ranked order (Material) would be considered first.

Hi Ganesh,
You can try using the alternative item group in the BOM with ranking order.
