MRP run -old material

we have few items which are very old and we did not consider them for farther planning because of in-sufficent consumption .

we maintain proper material master paretmets through mmd and we ofen creat demand through MD61.when we are running mrp in md03 , they are generating one single pr and also some of them are not getting planned

any idea on this issue ?

What is the planning strategey are you using?

I would suggest you to check the MRP relevent parameters like Planning strategey -40 .In this case u can get PR individaully .Individaul .Collective indicator is appliacble for MTO scinario .

The material which are not getting plant can be due to

1.No planning file netry in MDRE/MDAB -so check planning file consistancy

2.MRY type may be ND - not relevent for planning -check in MM02-MRP1 view

3.Storage loaction MRP indicator -1 chek in MRP view in MM02

4.Set for deletion indicator or not relevent for procurement in Basic Data 1

Check all of them and come back .

1.mrp type is pd .

2.storage location indicator kept blank

3.basic data tab -X plant status is blank

4.planning strategy kept blank ??

i will assing 40 and test in sandbox .

Hi Akash,

I suggest for old materials, with slow consumption, move to cosumption based planning instead of demand oriented planning.

You can have MRP type as VB and specify the reorder point as some X stock units,

once the stock goes below the quantity X, system considers the material for Planning( or Planning file entry is made)

I think this is ideal approach.

we were following cbp earlier but cutomer damand was not regular .so busniess decided to set target qty on monthly basis from sales and run mrp .so we are using md61 for those material to plugg the target qty in one short .

i have tested with planning strategy -40 and it is generating individual pr for all those old material .i kept individual collective indicator blank .
